College Fashionista X Vcluxe #12

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Patch Me Up!

Sick of your closet? Have that pair of jeans and a bunch of clothes that you do not know what to do with? Here's the solution for you: Patchwork. That said, this look is not just for your old clothes. Many patch their clothes up on purpose. That's right, on purpose. As you can see, this Fashionista even left a tiny hole in her jeans. This goes to show that patchwork clothing does not need any justifying, you do not have to have holes in your clothes as an excuse for this unique look!

Patchwork or piece work is basically about sewing on a smaller design onto a larger one. The designs are highly versatile as it can be sported on almost everything under the sun -- jeans, shirts, bags, pillows and even shoes! Check out Prada's 2011/12 Winter collection, among other designs, the Tri-Color Python Patchwork Boot was a huge hit.

The great thing about versatile designs is that they have products that range from the low, mid to high end. 2 Lips Too made stunning multi-toned brown boots, a perfect example of mid-ranged item. However, if you're after something on the cheaper side, what better way than to do it yourself? DIY is the way to go when I want my clothes patched up. Besides the obvious point of being mostly cost free, I am free to mix and match, and choose the designs I want on whichever piece of clothing. Furthermore, you are saving the environment by recycling unused clothes or other various materials. Remember, every step counts when it comes to helping Mother Nature out.
