Beautiful cultural clothes with intricate designs were draped across many. Red and blue tents lined the streets that was closed specifically for the event. The combination of clear skies and a cool breeze left us with a perfect day set up shop.
I woke up at 7 to help transport the durians from the Food Lab to our stall at the market where the annual Malaysian Street Festival was held. It wasn't too long before customers streamed along asking about the King of Fruits. A few cringed at the smell and awkward appearance of the Durian, but many were keen to try and eventually walked away with at least a box.
It is always such an amazing feeling to be reminded of how kind-hearted people can be to one another, and how impartial and open people are to try new things.
We were the first stall to sell out. And raised more money than we could have ever imagined. Thank you to everyone who made the day a success. And special thanks to all the remarkable volunteers who contributed... especially those who shouted "LIU LIAN, LIU LIAN, LAI LAI LAI!" -- Singaporean style ;)
